Prosecutor Kit Babcock is facing imminent unemployment when her prospects brighten: she scores a surprise win in a write-in election for court clerk. But then the defeated incumbent, Gary Moss, publicly and to her face threatens to sue Kit to keep his office.
As Kit ponders whether the job is worth the lawsuit likely to come with it, Gary rather inconveniently turns up dead. And while the death seems to be an accident, information soon comes to light that the late Mr. Moss was actually murdered.
And Kit becomes the prime suspect.
Unless the real murderer is discovered, Kit can forget about being the clerk or going back to her old job–not to mention keeping her law license and her freedom.
Elections and Consequences is the first novel in the Canton County Chronicles Mysteries Series.
