| Q: | What is your favorite color? |
| A: |
I love the color purple. But if you ask me for a favorite, it's a tie
between purple and orange. My writing studio is painted a color called
Ciaobella ("beautiful goodbye" in Italian) and the walls remind me of a
terracotta sunset.

| Q: | What are your favorite foods? |
| A: |
I love green plums with a sweet red interior (called Elephant Hearts),
chocolate covered anything ... except for ants (In Japan you can buy
chocolate covered ants AND grasshoppers!), spaghetti topped with those
really big meatballs (and lots of grated parmesan), and for dessert,
"It's A Goody" ice cream (vanilla swirled with peanut butter and
chocolate chips). I HATE squid tentacles, liver, anchovies, and mayo,
especially if they're mixed together!

| Q: | What is your favorite animal? |
| A: |
My favorite animal is a giraffe. I really want to ride one. When I was
eight, I rode a cow bareback and barefoot through Missy Duxbury's
pasture in Reno, Nevada. I jumped off the cow about a 1/4 mile from her
ranch house and walked back through the grass. It was 90 degrees—very
hot— and the feeling of the cool, wet mud under my feet was wonderful.
Back at the ranch, I washed all the mud off with a garden hose. When my
feet were clean, Missy told me that I had walked through a field of cow
pies (a nice term for cow poo)! One day when I ride a giraffe, I will NOT make the mistake of stepping on giraffe pies.
