Jude Deveraux, full name Jude Gilliam White, began writing in 1976, and to date there are more than thirty million copies of her books in print from a total of more than 45 novels.
The first books in print were The Enchanted Land in 1978 followed
by Black Lyon in 1980. She then began with her historical romance series "The Montgomery Annals" which are better known today to readers as the Velvet Series. This is comes from the titles of the books, which are The Velvet Promise, Highland Velvet, Velvet Song and Velvet Angel.  The Montgomery's continued on in such books as Sweet Liar, The Duchess,
A Knight in Shining Armor right up to her latest series Forever ....
Jude was born September 20, 1947 in Fairdale, Kentucky. She has also graduated  from Murray State University, Kentucky, with a BA in Art. Jude now lives in North Carolina with her young son Sam. She also has a home in Italy, where she continues to write.
