Bertha Mukodzani was born in Zimbabwe,Chinhoyi, Makonde District. She trained as a nurse at Thames Valley University, UK now known as University of West London and is now employed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Reading, United Kingdom. Bertha is also a qualified Primary School Teacher, with specialisation in Infant Education.
A Life Steered is Bertha's first novel which draws heavily from her own life experience growing up as a young girl in Zimbabwe.
