I await the moment of its publication with certain amount of dread, because I'm sure that m/m romance lovers (should they read it) won't like the subject matter of this novella and I mean to go into hiding in case of any serious backlash. However, I'm not too worried, because my books are not universally read, so I might very well be spared.

But I want to explain myself. In each M/M story set in Regency era I'm trying to look at the relationship between two (or more) male characters from different angles and points of view. My first novella "A Secret Arrangement" was all about mutual attraction and romance, though I remember that some readers had certain issues with the romantic element there. In this respect "Lord Darlington's Fancy" is completely different. The main difference is that it's not a romance. Rather it is a story of courtship, resistance, dissipation, indulgence, danger and moral bankruptcy.

I've been working on this story for such a long time that I came up with several endings. My editor chose the final version, but my personal favourite is the second; I thought that it was very fitting.
