5 Famous Detectives and The Stories Behind Their Names

“What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”
– William Shakespeare

It’s true that a name is just a name, yet a lot of times there is more depth to a name than is visible. Names tell stories, have hidden meanings, messages, memories, they are much more than just letters put together.

This is true of literary characters too. Some of the most loved characters names are not random, rather they tell a tale and have been chosen for it by authors. Here’s five of my favourite detective characters and the stories behind their names.

June has arrived. It seems like it was just yesterday that we were celebrating New Years; where 6 months went past I don’t know. Time seems to fly!

It’s June, the middle of the year and time to look at what’s coming up in the next six months of the year. 5 Eccentric Habits of BookLovers

Book lovers are eccentric people. I should know I’m one of them. I have strange quirks and habits that only book addicts would understand and associate with.

We book lovers display these queer rituals, bizarre patterns, mystifying habits and baffling routines that make non-readers look at us like we suffer a special madness.

And a special madness it is, for it is these eccentrics and quirks, these strange habits, that stamp readers as absolute booklovers. Here’s 5 of those idiosyncrasies, how many do you connect with?

6 Non-Fiction Books You Must Read Before Watching The Biopic

The week before last we talked about books that you must read before they become movies. So, this week we’ll continue that train of thought with some non-fiction books you must read before they become movies.

This year in the awesome line up of movies there are also some outlandish true life tales that are going to hit the big screen. Stories so wild that maybe a 2 hour movie will not do complete justice to the story.

With that in mind, here’s our pick of 6 non-fiction must reads so you can nod knowingly when watching the biopic. 🙂

5 Books You Must Read Before Watching the Movie in 2015

I think books are infinitely more enjoyable than the movies based on them. There are exceptions of course but most times I’m glad I read the book before I saw the movie.

When I read, I watch a movie unfold in my head as the story goes along. (Does that happen to you too?) Sometimes the movie made is similar to the one I saw in my head but most times it falls short and in exceptional cases it outdoes my mind!

One thing is for sure though, I enjoy a book much more if I read before the movie. Most often the movie ruins the book for me. 2015 has a great line up of movies to watch out for, but before you watch the flicks here are some books you must read.
