Although I am not a love story reader I found the book very interesting as it was gripping and fast moving. You had the reader captivated. It was very lustful and sexy. These are the beautiful people that one can see in most magazines etc. For me the interesting part of the story was getting behind the scenes of a very public life and seeing the loneliness.
No wonder there is so much bed swapping in the Public Eyes. The power these people can project and tempting for ambitious young women.
I am delighted to have been able to read this story about another side of life.
Now I would like the sequel, to see what happened to them for the rest of their lives. One can only keep up that lustful pace for a certain number of years, and I could see that they truly RESPECTED one another and that is the secret of a successful marriage. The lust had to ease up but as they were both very balanced people and the man was portrayed as very manly and the woman very feminine -the ideal that we were all brought up to believe in - when the reality of life is far from that.
Thank you so much for writing such insight into a life I have never been anywhere near in experiencing.
This book was a breath of fresh air for me. I loved the way it took me off to a totally different world - a world of glamour and excitement, but not over the top, quite realistic.
Anne who is beautiful and vulnerable, falls in love with this sophisticated, wordly, older man but she is strong enough to stick up for what she believes in, and her lessons abound throughout the course of the book.
It will remind the older women of themselves when they were in their 20’s. Perhaps we all had a fantasy of being whisked off by a rich, artistic older man who is terribly
handsome to boot! The strong point of this novel is the scenario works and one finds themselves being drawn into the world of this beautiful but ordinary girl who is
whisked into the turbulence and glamour of Rick's life, but realises there are some hard lessons to be learnt in the process.
I read the book quickly (rare for me) and it is a lovely, light read, just the remedy after a long hard day.
STRANGERS ON THE SHORE
Once again Angela Esteves takes us behind the scenes of a very public showbiz figure to reveal years of contrived success built on talent and determination while exposing the lack of personal fulfillment in the life of American entertainer Richard Cohen.
A professional change of direction suddenly leads him to love for an English singer twenty years his junior – but just as he is adjusting to this new role of husband he allows his profession to usurp his private life and he is left to continue a lengthy Canadian and US tour alone. STRANGERS
Esteves keeps up a relentless pace as she entertains her readership with the larger than life personality of Cohen the showman- and the man behind the charade- who is gradually brought to the realization that only the love for his wife is the catalyst for true fulfillment.
Set in the world of music and show business spanning Europe, Canada and America the writer offers a sensitive and moving account of two lives unexpectedly entwined to poignantly demonstrate her message – quite simply love is all.
