"Imagine a different revelation: The devil rising to Earth remorseful for what he has done, in a story of what could happen come April 2012!”

New York, New York- April 2012: As a writer, he wasn’t one, style wise at least. He was a recovering alcoholic who seemed to spend most of his time making up for his life's many mistakes, learning the hard way that control is the root cause and common denominator behind every addiction!

And when in New York to do a talk show interview he gets to explain his concept on religion: "How is that possible, believing in all religions at once?" queried the host Manuel simply replied "I try and look up to the sky and picture all the Gods together saying 'Join Us.' Not pushing and shoving saying 'Join me, No me' or 'Only I know the way' or 'You won't go to Heaven or you'll burn in Hell if you don't follow me!" No 'Join Us' because if the Gods care about humanity, and I believe they do since they've gotten us this far, then that's what they'll say!"

Also while in New York he also gets to ascend in one of the 'glass' elevators of the recently constructed "Twins," where passengers can enjoy the beauty and strength of this magnificent city as they ride to one of the observation posts on top. Not only are the new buildings in a cross design a monument to the fallen themselves, but this design helps shore up the towers from ever collapsing again!

Then towards the end of his stay Manuel gives a speech on a subject he's the most passionate about: "Ignorance is the number one enemy of all mankind, for all people hate and fear are indiscriminative. If hate and fear ruled the world we'd all be dead! Love can conquer all!”

Finally, when the devil does rise, some unpopular things are to be said: “Freakin’ Children, look how you behave! All of you with your little sibling rivalries!

I say if you can’t play nice, take away the toy! Either no one lives in that cursed land, leaving it as an uninhabited holy refuge for all- Or else blow that wasteland you call Jerusalem to smithereens! Nobody gets it! Let you all re-build your precious little shrines together, wouldn’t that be a kick!

But the devil has some conflict of his own: Does he try to do right? Or is his lust for power and control too great! All in a story about trying to make amends, and where the only purpose is to make you think!

Praise and Reviews
:

“An absorbing novel written in a similar existential-conversation style as Scott Adams' "God's Debris", Langdon Hues' "Far Behind" follows the speculation of "what if the Devil's 2012 reawakening were to come from the Devil's remorse?" Touching upon the gamut of negative human emotions and conditions, from addiction to runaway anger and murder to the eternal, internal struggle between the selfish and the selfless that rages within, Far Behind in insightful, intriguing, and sure to provoke extended reflection and contemplation within the reader, as well as anticipation in the forthcoming sequel that speculates on how the Devil might (justly? benevolently?) take over the world! Highly recommended!”        Midwest Book Review      8/6/2010
