To facilitate her transition from ABD to Ph.D., she made a plan; stuck with it; enlisted available help and finished her dissertation in a breathtakingly fast six months. In Six Months to Dr., she shows readers how they, too, can apply the same time- and energy-saving tactics she used, and move from ABD to PHinisheD.
You haven’t come all this way in your academic career just to stop short of the finish line. Dr. Judi’s practical, clearly written plan can work for you just like it did for her, and get you to “Dr.” a lot sooner, and with a lot less anguish!

The Story Behind This Book
People are always surprised when I tell them how long it took me to complete my doctorate dissertation. Just six months. When I talk about how great my experience was, most people can’t relate because my experience was very smooth and certainly frustration-free. I started thinking about what made my dissertation experience so great; and found a simple answer- I had a lot of help. I didn’t hire an expensive firm to do the work. I did it myself and used tools and resources that are available to every student. Another thing that stood out for me was the fact that other students don’t use these resources. After talking to several students and graduates I discovered that most just don’t know the help s available. I decided to write this book to help other students realize how much help is available to them and how they can access this treasure mine.
Praise and Reviews
Successfully completing your dissertation is the most challenging demand of the doctoral process. The culmination of strenuous research efforts, the selection of your committee and the internal fight to stay focused and dedicated to your goal can be treacherous. Dr. Judi Cinéas' book Six Months to Doctor can help you earn your doctorate degree with ease, expertise and speed. I highly recommend this book for all doctoral students. —Dr. Molly Barrow
As a person with a masters degree who aspired to apply to a Ph.D. program, my biggest obstacle was the overwhelming task of having to complete a dissertation. Since coming across the book Six Months to Dr. and being exposed to the strategies that Dr. Cinéas puts forth I now believe that I can indeed “do this” as she so aptly puts it. I would recommend that every doctoral student and those who have not yet applied to a program check out this book; as it really is an inspirational source. —Ruth Ambroise, MSW
Dr. Judi determined to complete her dissertation in record time, and she succeeded. In Six Months to Doctor she combines her own story with lessons learned along the way, especially encouragement and motivation through the snags and emotional pitfalls. She provides practical, focused tips on the process far beyond writing the dissertation itself. If there is a shortcut or an efficient way to save time, money, and frustration, she shares it with her readers. If only I had been able to read this book during my own graduate student days. —Dr. Evelyn Torrey
