Join Stew, an ordinary horizontal line, as he discovers that there is more to life than just lying flat. He wil jump, skip, and swirl his way toward becoming a masterpiece. But will this new discovery make him happy?
I am always looking for books to use in my elementary art room, but when I began searching for one dealing with the Art Element of Line, I couldn't really find what I needed. So I decided to give writing my own a shot.
As I began writing my book, I was focused on incorporating the various types of lines that I wanted to show to my students. As I continued working on it, though, I realized that I needed to include some life lessons that I felt all children should know. The first is that being creative and trying new things should be fun (and even difficult at times). The second is that children should just be happy being themselves.
Everything turned out better than I expected. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
This book is so simple yet so brilliant! I so appreciate books that encourage a child's creativity, imagination, and ability to think outside the box, and books that allow a child to take a simple idea and run with it.
Our 4 and 5 year old children love this book, and we've done our own activities using the delightful idea of one line becoming something else or discovering what it can do. You could use a pipe cleaner, string, or just a pencil and paper and really have fun with the concept of the book.
This book comes with our highest recommendation!!! It's a favorite for our children, and a favorite for US as well!
