The Emotions and Journey of Colors in One Woman's Story Comes to Life in New Novel Color Me Jazzmyne

Authors Tale Describes the Struggle All Women Go Through

"Child abuse, rape, struggling to make money to live---these are all the things that women have gone through at least once in their lifetime. When a father's touch is no longer innocent, how do you find the courage to forgive? We all have many colors that make up our emotions either from the past, present or future. Color Me Jazzmyne takes each reader on a journey through the life of Naya Mona, a jazz singer who is raped by her father, abused by her friends and struggling to find peace. In the tale she is forced to answer the question...what color is Jazzmyne as she recounts her life to a son whom she never got a chance to name. How do you tell your son that your father is his? She has a voice that once on stage, commands the attention of her listeners and changes her from Naya Mona to Jazzmyne, the jazz singer.

“Color Me Jazzmyne” is an unconventional, yet fascinating first novel by Marian L. Thomas. Thomas definitely cuts to the core of serious subject matter: rape and incest and the cutthroat world of the music business.  The shocking reality of it all mixed with Jazzmyne’s relaxed and melodious voice makes “Color Me Jazzmyne” a true reading pleasure.  The book is written in a kind of free flow, stream of consciousness style that one can hear her melody singing through the pages.

“Color Me Jazzmyne” is a book that every woman ought to read at least once. Through the eyes and voice of Naya Mona, author Marian Thomas has given readers the opportunity to do some introspective thinking while reading about challenges that make us who we are today.
